Charlotte Seminar - details

From our friends at Aikido of Charlotte...

We are so excited to train with you this weekend for our 2024 Winter Seminar with guest instructor, Penny Bernath, 7th Dan, Shihan of the USAF Technical Committee.  As you may know, not only is this a major seminar for us but we'll be producing a documentary film about her in conjunction with the training so this should be quite exciting.  In an effort to make this weekend run smoothly, we wanted to go over a few things prior to your arrival.

Please click here to review the Seminar Schedule.  The schedule is subject to change so please try and arrive early & be on time for the classes.

  • Friday night, 2/2 class starts at 6:30PM.  The dojo will be open by 5:30PM.

  • For Saturday, 2/3, please be dressed out on the mat by 8:30AM for our Group Photo right before classes start.  This is the only time we'll do this, so please make sure to be there.  Penny Bernath Sensei wants to make sure everyone is in this picture.  If you're not sure where to line-up, use this guide & we'll assist you.  Easy etiquette rule to follow, you shouldn't be left of anyone senior to you in rank in the front row.

Last & most important, please read & review our Seminar Etiquette Guide by clicking here.  Please try and follow our reiho as we put a lot of emphasis on it as part of our dojo culture.  In addition, this seminar will be documented by a professional film crew, 360 Visuals so we want all of us to look our best.

Also, If you happen to be driving to the seminar this weekend and can pack a lawn chair or whatever you have this would help us as we expect over 50 at the Saturday night Potuck Social next door. We will have plenty of food & drink but if you could BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair) please it would be appreciated.

Mark's editorial #1: Pass in Blue's car will be leaving shortly after the last class on Sat, so we may not need chairs.

Mark's editorial #2: Aikido of Charlotte is a stickler about wearing sandals in the dojo, so be sure to bring a pair.
