A Dojo Worthy of Our Training Ethos
Training is commitment –
When we step on the mat, we commit to something bigger than ourselves . . .
We commit to training - with focus, discipline, and respect for the dojo, our instructors and fellow students.
The spirit of that commitment — the heart of Aikido — calls us to the dojo day after day -
And while our home here has served, I think you'd all agree our spirit has felt a bit confined . . .
A challenge we still embraced!
But to that end, I’m thrilled to share, at long last, our exciting news –
Earlier this week, we signed an agreement to expand Peachtree . . .
Into the adjacent space!
Soon, we’ll have room to train like never before –
Double the mat space, larger dressing rooms - with showers - and a dedicated space for visiting instructors.
But this move Isn't just about square footage or amenities . . .
This new space is a reflection of our growth, personal and communal -
We challenge ourselves to be more centered, capable, sharper . . .
And our dojo is stepping up to meet us!
Now comes the most important part: We need YOU -
Every person here helps sustain and improve our space . . .
And every one of us can lend a hand to write Peachtree's next chapter!
This dojo isn't just four walls and a roof, Peachtree is YOU -
Our community makes Peachtree special . . .
And we can make our new space downright amazing!
We don’t yet know exactly what’s needed to take Peachtree to the next level –
But we know we need all of you to make the dojo possible - and sustainable . . .
Whether it’s time, energy or treasure, your support will be vital.
So, as Peachtree grows I’m asking all of you to grow with Peachtree –
Let the dojo serve to deepen your connection to Aikido . . .
To reflect not just a physical expansion but a personal transformation, as individuals and a community.
Let's create an ideal dojo that reflects how we practice Aikido.
The space is rough and ugly now . . .
We’ll need to make it beautiful after the landlord delivers possession - in October!
It’s going to be an exciting new chapter and journey - I can’t wait to take this next step with all of you!
Over the next few weeks Mark Sensei will collect ideas of what our new dojo will look like . . .
Meantime, please keep quiet – no pictures or posting - but plenty of brainstorming!
See you on the mat!
